Desperate to sleep in bed and see what it will be like, so I went to bed this afternoon on my own to see if it felt ok. I slept well but I couldn’t lie on my left side because of the surgery, so it did feel weird and unnatural. I normally would sleep on my left side and cuddle Paul or he’d cuddle me with his arm around me. So that night I did manage to sleep on my back, looking very attractive with my mask on looking like an Ood out of Dr Who.
Very strange feeling and Paul sleeps fairly well so he tells me, although I believe he was concerned he’d hurt me. He could however sleep on a washing line without feeling anything weird! My other new experience today was having my first pooh since the night before surgery when they give you two tablets to empty your stomach and bowel at 6pm and you have to take another two of the same type tablet’s at 6am the morning of your op as well.
To say the first pooh was painful would be an understatement. I thought I was giving birth to an alien the size of Manchester and was convinced my anus would split in all directions. It was the first and only time I have envied gay men, as they probably wouldn’t have had that problem.
No offence intended, but I hope you get my drift. So be warned all you pre op guys and gals, if there is a stool softener available for you to take post op, have it!
